Privacy policy

Milunu makes personalized picture books. We sell to adults: parents, guardians and the people buying a gift for a child. This page explains what we collect, why, and when we delete it. If anything is unclear, write to help@milunu.com.

What we collect

• The order form. Your child's first name, age and pronoun, and the look you choose (skin tone, hair, eyes, clothing colour, and whether they wear glasses, a hijab, a hearing aid or use a wheelchair, plus any marks like freckles you add). If you add them, the same for a brother or sister, and your pet's species, colour and name. Also the favourite thing, the story, the narrator voice, who the book is from and your dedication.
• Your email address, to send you the book and contact you about your order.
• Payment details are collected by Creem, our merchant of record, not by us. We receive your email, the order status and the amount paid, never your card details.
• A security check. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is using the form. To limit photo uploads we store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address and a count per hour. We never store the IP address itself.

We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.

The optional photo

You can upload a photo of your child to fill in the appearance choices for you. If you do:

• You confirm you are the child's parent or guardian.
• Your browser first shrinks the photo to a smaller copy, so the full-size original never leaves your device.
• The photo is sent once to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to read visible features like hair and skin tone and pick the closest options from our fixed lists. Only those choices come back to your browser.
• Then it is discarded. We never store it: not in a database, not in file storage, not in our logs. It is never used to draw the book.
• Anthropic processes the photo under its commercial API terms.
• It is not used to identify anyone. The model is instructed not to guess gender, age, ethnicity, health or disability. You review every suggestion and can change it before you continue.

How we use it

Only to make and deliver your book, to answer you if you contact us, to handle refunds, and to keep the service secure. We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.

Legal basis

We use your order details because we need them to make and deliver the book you buy (performance of the purchase contract). We use the optional photo only with your consent, given with the checkbox next to the upload. You can simply not upload one.

Who processes it for us

• Cloudflare hosts the website and stores orders and finished books. Its AI models draw the illustrations and record the narration, and it runs the bot check and sends our emails.
• Anthropic (Claude) reads the optional photo to suggest choices, writes the short lines that bring a pet or sibling into the story, and checks each illustrated page against your choices.
• GitHub runs the job that puts each book together.
• Creem is our merchant of record. It sells you the book, takes payment, handles tax and processes refunds, under its own privacy policy.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under their own data-processing terms.

How long we keep it

• The photo: never stored by us. It is discarded as soon as the suggestions come back.
• The order form and your email address: your child's details from the form, and your email address, are deleted 90 days after purchase. The working files used to make the book (character sheets and page texts) are deleted on the same schedule.
• The finished book (pages, narration and PDF, which include your child's name and illustrations) stays available at its private link so you can keep reading it. Anyone with the link can open it, so share it only with people you choose. Email us to delete it sooner.
• We keep a minimal order record (order number, status and dates) so the book link keeps working and for refunds and accounting.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data (a copy), to correct it, or to delete it, including the finished book. Write to help@milunu.com from the email you ordered with. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is for adults. The information about a child comes from their parent or guardian, or from the adult buying the gift, never from the child. We don't knowingly collect information directly from children, there are no accounts, and we collect only what's needed to make the book.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
